E*Learning
In the last few years Jake has done extensive work in online training and education for a variety of topics. The work listed here is Flash based environments that leverage unique games, audio, learning tools and interactivities. All of these courses were based on existing content but through extensive interviews with experts and users were brought up-to-date so that the courses reflected the company’s most current best practices and learning. Various usability and learning principles were applied to refine these courses and create experiences that developed a user's complete understanding and retention of the materials.
Apple: Ethics Training
As a company, Apple has high standards for the visual design of all its products and the design of its internal training course for professional ethics was no exception. Working with Allen Interactions, we built into the process the ample time to have numerous iterations and meetings to discuss not only the details of content and learning principals but to have lengthy conversation around color, layout and overall tone.
CA Police Officers' Association: Terrorism Training
The goal of this course is to teach officers how to react properly in the event of a "terror situation", make them more aware of possible activity in their areas and provide educations about the tools, tactics and behavior of terrorists. The principal challenge with this course was to create an experience that officers would find to be a legitimate learning exercise on a limited budget. Officers are typically wary of any education that is provided online preferring to gather the bulk of their training on "the streets" or face-to-face. Working with Allen Interactions, we solved this by creating rich and engaging games and exercises in which the attention to "real world" details and graphic representation was critical.

Illustrations
For this course we created a large library of vector based illustrations that allowed us to create a variety of characters and scenes that afforded us greater opportunities to develop engaging animations while keeping costs to a minimum by avoiding expensive photo shoots.
